美国留学之美国大学排名：USNewsVSPrincetonReview

现在很多家长都把us news作为选校的唯一参考,不少学生也正因为排名,而变得非名校不去。殊不知,美国大学排名类型很多,除了我们耳熟能详的us news作为目前主流的排名参考,也有我在这里想跟大家推荐的princeton review大学排名。

princeton review的排名主要包括college（指大学,不指研究生院）, business, law, graduate, medical五大板块。

推荐理由一：排名是来自于学生角度

其中,就college这个板块的排名,princeton review（普林斯顿评论）通过对12,000学生进行调查,根据大学的学术、政治倾向、生活质量、饮食情况、宿舍条件以及社交生活等诸多方面的情况从全美4000多所大学中挑选出最佳的三百多所,供学生在择校时参考,一共包括了62个排名。因为这些排名涉及了学生学习和生活的方方面面,更能够给不同需求的学生在选校的时候做参考。

推荐理由三：专业划分详细,冷门专业易寻

与u.s.news相比,princeton review的专业划分要详细的多,很多usnews找不到的专业,这里都可以找到,冷门专业的学生应好好利用普林斯顿排名。

每个专业,princeton review都给出具体的介绍,包括本科课程,提供该专业的学校,以及未来的职业等等。

当然由于princeton review 是通过对在校学生的调查而得出的学校排名,主观性的存在是必然的。所以我们还是需要借鉴us news的排名,因为其本科排名有25%比例来自于大学同行的主观评价,而研究生的商科、

工程等专业有40%比例来自于主观评价,其他则来自不同机构或学术界权威人士的评价,和根据一些客观的如科研设施配备情况等因素做出评价。

因此,在家长和学生选择美国院校的时候,一方面需要理性地看待排名,另一方面要对自己做合理的定位。一味追求排名而不衡量自身的情况显然不是明智的。我在这里把princeton review提出来,也是希望能多有一个途经让大家去了解美国的学校,从更多的侧面来看待学校。
